ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER – Assist with publication of Electronic Newsletter by proofreading and scheduling for delivery. May also be asked to create Newsletters as the need arises. Training is provided.
OFFICE ASSISTANTS – Help the Parish Administrator as needed.
WEBSITE – Assist with maintaining content on CLC’s website. Training is provided.
Youth & Family
- Youth Summer Trip – This summer our CLC kids (ages 6 to 15) are going on a trip to to Panama Beach, FL for a non-denominational Christian Youth Gathering called Bigstuf!
- Fundraising for annual Youth Mission trip
- Assist with Annual Easter Egg Hunt
- Acolyte at Sunday Service
CARPENTERS FOR CHRIST – A group for members of our congregation willing to give of their time and talent to maintain and beautify our church, preschool and facilities. This group is involved in small maintenance projects, a quarterly scheduled clean-up day and landscaping our grounds. The small projects that we are able to repair ourselves help keep our budget available for large expenditures that occur during the year.
Provides support the families and individuals by sending birthday and anniversary cards each month. Home visitation, prayer chain and funeral reception planning are also a part of this vital ministry.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION – Faith Formation classes for adults every Sunday from 9:45 – 10:20 a.m.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH – Meet Sundays from September to May at 9:45 – 10:20 a.m.
CONFIRMATION OF BAPTISM INSTRUCTION – Pastor has classes weekly, alternating web-based resources with in-person learning and serving together. Offsite summer campformation experiences are part of the summer immersion.

BOOK CLUB – The CLC Book Club meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month, usually in a member’s home. Books are selected at the beginning of each year. CLC’s Book Club is open to anyone who enjoys reading. We welcome all who love to read and share their books.
CHRIST’S LOYAL CHEFS – If you like working in the kitchen, this is a great opportunity to serve our congregation while enjoying the camaraderie of your brothers in Christ. The group prepares Soup and Salad meals that are served each Wednesday night during Lent. Additionally, they prepare meals for each fifth Sunday brunch, as well as meals to support fellowship events.
WOMEN’S RETREAT – The first Saturday in March is a time for Women at CLC to come together for fellowship, prayer and personal reflection as we deepen our relationship with God. All are welcome.
6+2 DINNER GROUP – Consists of three couples and two singles who meet three times a year for a home cooked meal. The three couples each host one of the gatherings in their home. The host couple prepares the main dish and others are asked to provide salad, side dishes and desserts.
SUNDAY COFFEE FELLOWSHIP– This team sets up and hosts our coffee fellowship table that is set out between worship services on Sunday mornings. Many people are involved with this ministry. Various duties may include: Set up of table in narthex, making the coffee, plating the donated cookies/fruit/breakfast breads, being present during the hour to refresh the coffee, creamer, hot water as needed. And cleaning up afterwards. Providers of cookies/fruit/breakfast breads are assigned weekly by the team leader.
SPECIAL EVENTS – including movie nights, strawberry socials, Oktoberfest, etc.
Inviting & Welcoming
NEW MEMBER WELCOME TEAM – Shepherds new members to help orient them to Christ Lutheran Church, provides a New Member packet to each household and plans New Member receptions (in conjunction with Fellowship team).

ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE – Reviews and advises all matters pertaining to the finances of Christ Lutheran Church, including development of the Ministry Spending Plan. The team also conducts an Annual Financial Audit and oversees activity of the Christ Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
CONGREGATION COUNCIL – Council members meet once a month to conduct all facets of business and visioning for Christ Lutheran Church. Each member may serve as a liaison to one of the Ministry Teams and reports back to Council.
PERSONNEL – Oversees all matters pertaining to Employees of Christ Lutheran Church and Preschool.
STEWARDSHIP (financial)– Team is responsible for the Annual Estimate of Giving campaign. Team members encourage Church members to grow as stewards of all that God has given to us.

ADULT CHOIR – Our Adult Choir sings every Sunday from September through May at 10:30AM Traditional Service. Anyone who likes to sing is cordially invited to sing with us. If you cannot commit to the entire year, you can sing when your schedule permits. We practice on Wednesday nights at 5:00pm in the Music Room in the Education Building.
8:30 a.m. MUSIC TEAM – This unique team includes singers, guitars and other musical instruments to support music that is part of the 8:30 a.m . Blended Worship Service.
HANDBELL CHOIR – This newly formed group of experienced and novice ringers meets weekly to develop pieces to play during worship. Anyone is invited to join in the fun!
BACKPACK BUDDIES – Christ Lutheran Church is one of three packing centers for Hilton Head Backpack Buddies. This ecumenical mission work provides almost 1,200 needy children on our Island with healthy meals over the weekends during the school year. Once a month, during the school year, we pack here at the Church and every Friday, we hand out packs to the children at the school. Volunteers are asked to set up food on Wednesday afternoon and oversee backpack packing on Thursday morning. Link to Backpack Buddies website.
DEEP WELL – The first Sunday of every month at Christ Lutheran Church is designated as Deep Well Collection Sunday. CLC collects items for donation to help Deep Well keep its pantries full. Current needs are listed in the weekly update and Sunday bulletins. Link to Deep Well website.
FAMILY PROMISE – Two times each year Christ Lutheran Church, in partnership with Hilton Head Community Church and St. Francis Catholic Church, hosts homeless families for one – two weeks. Link to Family Promise website.
ST. JAMES’ SOUP KITCHEN – CLC is called to support the Soup Kitchen EVERY THURSDAY of the month! During the Summer months of June, July and August, CLC is asking for “loose change” donations to offer financial support to the Soup Kitchen. You can also help by baking cookies or donating soft fruit items.
Sunday Worship Service is a great way to share your time and talents with the Congregation. Below is a list of functions that contribute to a rich worship experience. ALTAR GUILD – Is responsible for the care and maintenance of all things related to the altar, setting up communion and weekly floral arrangements. Teams are set up on a rotational basis.
COMMUNION ASSISTANTS – Serve as chalice bearers. An additional person serves as paten bearer during services where more than one communion line is used.
USHERS – Stand at the front entrance and extend a warm welcome to church members and visitors as they arrive, while passing out bulletins, as well as offering other assistance as needed.
TECHNOLOGY TEAM – Assist with audio, lighting, recording each week’s sermon, as well as other audio visual needs. Team members receive special training and are assigned as needed.
LECTORS – Read selected scriptures from the lectern during Sunday service. Readings are available the week prior to assigned schedule.
