Christ Lutheran Preschool Staff

Nancy Conder is the Director of Christ Lutheran Preschool, and has worked as both teacher and director for 41 years.  She was raised in New Jersey, and moved to South Carolina in 1971.  She received a BA degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina, and has 30+ hours of graduate training in Early Childhood Education and Administration.  Nancy taught in public school before joining Christ Lutheran in 1982. She is a member of the National Registry of Who’s Who in Education, and she is a board member with Hilton Head Heroes.  Nancy has 2 daughters – Leigh Ann and Leslie, and 5 granddaughters.  Nancy enjoys reading, crafts, and spending time with her family.


Lori Maurer is beginning her 39th year as Music Teacher for Christ Lutheran Preschool. She majored in Choral Education at Florida State University, where she toured with the FSU Jazz Band as their featured vocalist.  Lori and her husband, Mark, have 3 beautiful daughters:  Krista, Karly, and Kaycie, all CLP graduates!  The Maurers own and operate Adventure Cruises in Shelter Cove Harbour.  Lori is very involved in the youth & music programs of her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she directs and sings regularly.  Lori has performed in many musicals with the HH Community & Youth Theater, the Hilton Head Community Playhouse, & The Arts Center.  She and her husband enjoy collaborating on compositions and their family enjoys singing and performing together.  Lori has composed many of the songs your children will sing at CLP.


Leslie Shaw was born and raised on HHI and is a former student of CLP. She attended Winthrop University and USCB, studying Early Childhood Education, and has previously worked at Christ Lutheran for over 16 years. Leslie and her husband Kelly have two daughters, Ella Rae (14) and Caroline (11) that are both CLP alumni.  Leslie enjoys volunteering in her girls’ school, coffee and the beach.


Corinne Kelly is originally from Allentown, PA and attended Penn State University where she majored in art.  She and her husband have lived on Hilton Head for 18 years and have two young sons (River, 13 and Wyatt, 10).  After being a parent helper while both her boys attended Christ Lutheran Preschool, Corinne joined the CLP staff and is now lead teacher in the two year old room.  Prior to being a stay at home mom, Corinne was employed by Marriott as a concierge.  Corinne’s hobbies include gardening, reading and trying out new vegan recipes for her family. 


Margaret Franklin Gawryszewski moved to HHI in the summer of 2021 with her husband Jim and their Dalmation Kerry. Margaret received her BA degree in Political Science at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and her MA degree in Education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.  Prior to the birth of her twin daughters Maeve and Mairead, Margaret worked at an educational non-profit, The Washington Center, where she placed and supervised college students as they completed internships in Washington, D.C.  When she returned to work, Margaret started teaching preschool at St. Ann’s Preschool in Marietta, GA.  She taught there for 16 years before moving to South Carolina.  Margaret enjoys baking, listening to Irish music, reading, bike riding, walking on the beach and traveling, especially to Texas and Virginia to visit her daughters.


Babs Neuman is originally from Florence, SC and moved to Hilton Head in 2007. She graduated from Francis Marion University with a BA in Early Childhood Education. She taught kindergarten for 9 years before leaving to stay at home when her children were young. She and her husband, Brian, and their two children, Walker (9) and Murray (7) enjoy spending time on the boat and beaches. 

Georgiana Daber and her husband Thad have lived on Hilton Head for the past 15 years.  Georgiana is a part time assistant in the 3 and 4 year old classroom. This will be her sixth year at Christ Lutheran Preschool.  Previously, Georgiana worked for 10 years as a medical assistant in a pediatrician’s office in Durham, NC.  She has 2 children, Logan and Blair.  Georgiana enjoys going to the beach and traveling with her husband.

Janet Johnson  is from Steubenville, Ohio.  She and her husband Ron moved to HHI in 2016.  She graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a BS degree in Elementary Education.  Janet taught Kindergarten for 36 years in Steubenville City Schools.  Janet enjoys spending time at the beach and boating with her husband and friends.

Barbara Pacio is from New Jersey.  She and her husband have lived on HHI since 2019.  Barbara previously worked with special needs children and preschool aged children for 6 years in New Jersey and had a few retail jobs here on HHI. Barbara enjoys being outside, hiking and fishing.

Marissa Todish is originally from Roswell, Georgia, but moved to Hilton Head Island  in 2008. She attended Coastal Carolina University and USCB as an education major. Marissa is a member of the Phi Mu Lambda Kappa sorority at USCB. She enjoys going to the pool with friends, shopping, going to concerts and dancing.
